Kids Krav Maga as it is most commonly known is Krav Maga designed specifically for children beginning at the age of 4 and all the way up to adulthood. It has been developed by the IKMF as part of Krav Maga self-defense solutions created for the various civilian sectors. Children can greatly benefit from learning self defense at an early age as it allows them, in a relative short period, to learn self-defense techniques that they can take with them through their entire lives. This system has been carefully adapted to match their respective age, physical and mental abilities as they grow and develop themselves.
While learning Krav Maga, the children are taught how to recognize common threats like bullies and kidnappers as well as how to quickly to react when confronted with these dangerous situations in order to keep them safe. Krav Maga also provides an excellent way to improve their self-esteem, build confidence, respect and discipline. IKMF Kids Krav Maga training, especially in the younger age group are mostly taught through Krav Maga games that keep them excited and engaged while still learning valuable self defense techniques and lessons that stick.
Games help the children develop coordination; learn how to follow directions and foster assertiveness and decisiveness. In the IKMF we teach them first, how to avoid confrontation, then defend themselves as necessary to escape danger and escape to safety. Kids Krav Maga openly and cautiously explains attack scenarios kids may encounter, how to determine to react to bullies of all ages, possible kidnappers, their options in each situation, and what the appropriate responses would be.
There are 5 main age categories organized for children a part of the IKMF. Because as children grow up and because more mature, there become progressively fewer games and soon starts to resemble the adult curriculum. Children who train Kravmaga learn a lot about commitment and endurance. Krav Maga teaches them to appreciate and be proud of their achievements when learning a new technique or passing their grade test.
They get a true sense of the path they are on and their progress and they realize they can achieve the goals that they set for themselves. In the process they also get a great work out and learn the power they have in all their actions. The IKMF has also found that kids who need to let out steam can greatly benefit from Krav maga training. They're permitted to hit the punching bag, spar and fight with another student under the instructor's supervision and in the process learn that without these pre-conditions it is not ok to hit or fight.
